Vritham - The series of rituals that are performed during the wedding starts with Vritham. Vritham is a vedic ritual where the groom takes his father's permission to get married. The groom has been leading a life of penance thus far, with his father as his guru. It is essential that the groom be an expert in the vedas before he is married. So his father makes him perform several vedic rituals and duties in this ceremony. |
